Peace…

I wrote this poem today… In honor of all the recent tragedies, much love to all.

Peace…

By Julie A. Eastin

Explosion the force of hate

Souls shattered Lives forever changed

Pieces of broken glass

Held in our hands

Glass houses are not so easily mended

Screams and sirens fill the air

Unheard by man the sound of tears

Whispers sent to the heavens

Fingers point

Accusations made

Explosion the force of hate

Did we not learn?

Did we not see?

Life is precious not a political game

Like children on a playground

Sides are taken

Shouts, words of anger

Life lost, the world recoils

Our hands blood stained

Media fuels the flames

Explosion the force of hate

The image of a boy

He holds a sign, the message simple

“No More Hurting People… Peace.”

Is his message lost?

Rhetoric replaces compassion

A great divide, common ground slips

Explosion the force of hate

Listen…

Be still

Let your heart guide you

Be a single candle in the night

A light that flickers in the darkness

Trust in Love

Become the hope

Hand in hand we can create

Peace…

Peace...

Peace…
