Merry Thor’s Day!

Hello WoodSprites!

It has been a busy, busy past week or so, in a good way!  I want to say thanks to all of you who visit An October Monday and help to support it’s growth it makes my heart happy!

So time for a shop item updates… We have two new items up in the Etsy Shop (well one is a set but…)

So here are this weeks new whimsical woodcrafts:

Laundry Today or Skyclad Tomorrow

3 Sisters

This week I am busy working on two beautiful new altars, Green Lady and Green Man.  These will be done on stunning and sturdy oak and I super excited about these two lovelies!  One thing that is awesome about An October Monday portable altars is they are really portable.  Yes, they are small and convenient to just pick up and move from place to place but our altars were created with those who want to venture out into the outdoors or who have to travel a lot and want one that can easily and quickly be packed up to go.  With that in mind we made it fast and simple to remove the legs, kept the size small  enough (but not too small) to slip into a backpack or suitcase so you can take your personal altar wherever your path takes you!  We have two style available on the shop:

Art Nouveau Altar

Tree of Life

Treeof LifeAltar

We are really excited to be adding two more styles to the shop!  I will share once they are available so keep an eye out for them!

Last weekend my darling husband and I ventured out to the Robin Hood Springtime Festival in New Haven CT… I loved it!  I have never been to a Renaissance Fair (don’t judge) I had such a great time!  This got me to thinking, maybe it’s time for An October Monday to start working toward doing some festivals… And maybe even adding some Renaissance/Fantasy items in the shop?  Dragons, Fairies, and  Knights… OH MY!  So what do you think?

Also, I want to announce that An October Monday will be the featured artist at I {heart} Rhody on August 12, 2015!  I am super excited and honored to be showcased on this wonderful blog full of all kinds of great information on things in Rhode Island.  So a huge Thanks to the wonderful ladies who run I {heart} Rhody!

Well Sprites it’s time to fly have order to finish and two new altars to start on!

Until next time…

Shop photos and other news.

Well good morning Wood Sprites, and Happy Hump Day to all!

As we were prepping and getting ready to launch the store, we noticed that all of our photos had a bit of a yellow hue to them. This was somewhat corrected with my photo editing program but you can really tell that it is still there. We started doing a little research and the lighting that we used was a soft white light. This is the most un-natural light you an get. At least from the home store where the bulbs were purchased stand point. Coming in around 1000-3000K (don’t really know what this number means). As we started comparing different bulbs, there are much brighter (white) lights available. So while shopping for supplies, we picked up a 5000K, natural daylight bulb. Boy was that light better! So over the course of the next few days, you can expect to see new photos of our products at the webstore An October Monday.  This also means we should be updating our Etsy store as well.  So be on the look out for those.

More shop news!  We have been commissioned by our favorite local store to create some signs for her shop!  Our good friend Heather Killen, owner of Violet Flame Gifts has requested a couple of signs for labeling different areas of her store.  Wood work on these was completed yesterday, and the art should be done today.  As soon as these are completed, we will post photos for all to see.  Yes with better lighting as mentioned above.

We also have begun work on a series of new small, portable, personal altars.  One in the series of two new designs was created yesterday and the other should be done today.  Artwork will then follow and be posted to the store soon.

As you can see, it was a pretty busy day yesterday.

Until next time…

Friday, Mother’s Day and a whole lot of projects!

Well Wild Flowers here are on a Friday!

Yay we have made it through one more week and I am ready to start my weekend!  I don’t have huge plans.  I will spend my mother’s day weekend with my little clan and enjoy working on my recent projects, maybe a BBQ and cold margaritas are in my weekend plans too 😉

So currently I am working on my daughter’s end of the year gift for her teacher.  It’s going to be a sweet little wall plaque/chalkboard, she loves zombies so we did a whimsical play on zombie kids.  We can’t wait to give it to her. (A work in progress)

Still have lots of work to do!

Still have lots of work to do!

I will be creating wonderful Alice in Wonderland sings and croquet set for my sister’s 1 year wedding celebration. (pics to come later)

Another project is a custom trinket box with a Tinkerbell theme for a wonderful friend’s daughter’s high school graduation.  Wow, say that sentence three times fast! 😉 (Again, pics to come later)

And lastly, I have a beautiful small altar table (19”x 16” and 8” high) with a beautiful dragon theme.  This one is for the Etsy shop!  I am so excited! (Yup you guessed it, pics coming soon)

I have shared here on my blog and on my Facebook page some of the wood craft projects we have recently done.  Come give us a like if you haven’t, we promise to like you back!
