Merry Thor’s Day!

Hello WoodSprites!

It has been a busy, busy past week or so, in a good way!  I want to say thanks to all of you who visit An October Monday and help to support it’s growth it makes my heart happy!

So time for a shop item updates… We have two new items up in the Etsy Shop (well one is a set but…)

So here are this weeks new whimsical woodcrafts:

This week I am busy working on two beautiful new altars, Green Lady and Green Man.  These will be done on stunning and sturdy oak and I super excited about these two lovelies!  One thing that is awesome about An October Monday portable altars is they are really portable.  Yes, they are small and convenient to just pick up and move from place to place but our altars were created with those who want to venture out into the outdoors or who have to travel a lot and want one that can easily and quickly be packed up to go.  With that in mind we made it fast and simple to remove the legs, kept the size small  enough (but not too small) to slip into a backpack or suitcase so you can take your personal altar wherever your path takes you!  We have two style available on the shop:

Tree of Life

Treeof LifeAltar

We are really excited to be adding two more styles to the shop!  I will share once they are available so keep an eye out for them!

Last weekend my darling husband and I ventured out to the Robin Hood Springtime Festival in New Haven CT… I loved it!  I have never been to a Renaissance Fair (don’t judge) I had such a great time!  This got me to thinking, maybe it’s time for An October Monday to start working toward doing some festivals… And maybe even adding some Renaissance/Fantasy items in the shop?  Dragons, Fairies, and  Knights… OH MY!  So what do you think?

Also, I want to announce that An October Monday will be the featured artist at I {heart} Rhody on August 12, 2015!  I am super excited and honored to be showcased on this wonderful blog full of all kinds of great information on things in Rhode Island.  So a huge Thanks to the wonderful ladies who run I {heart} Rhody!

Well Sprites it’s time to fly have order to finish and two new altars to start on!

Until next time…

Hold on to Your Happy, Laugh till it hurts and Live in Love,
J.

Beautiful New Portable Altars!

Merry Thursday WoodSprites and Witches!

Just a quick blog about An October Monday’s new portable altars.  These hand crafted altars are made of pine, designs are wood burned, vinegar stained, legs are painted with Milk Paint and then sealed with a water based polyurethane.  The are 12 x 11, they stand 7 inches and the best part is the legs come off!  They are the perfect size for slipping into a backpack making them very convenient to take on the fly and just the right size to keep out of sight for those of you in the broom closet 😉

We have two beautiful styles but can of course create a custom piece just for you!  Our two beauty’s are a stunning Tree of Life, stained with an apple cider vinegar and hand painted leaves, the second is a lovely Art Nouveau inspired pentacle altar, complete with Le Chat Noir, the stain is a combination of white and red wine vinegar, giving it a beautiful antique feel.

Boo~tiful Crafting ;)

Ah Tuesday mornings…

The house was given a good cleaning yesterday, the weather is sunny with our highs only in the 70’s (perfect!) tis a good day for finishing up some projects and starting new ones!

Recently I finished up the lovely Cead Mile Failte ( A hundred thousand welcomes) signs, soon they will be up for grabs on the Etsy Shop!

Cead finished 002 Cead finished 003

Robert and I have mixed views, he prefers the Triquetra and I like the Celtic Shamrock but they both turned out very nice indeed!

Today I will be finishing up my personal No Soliciting Sign, and I think I will be creating some for the the Etsy Shop too… What do you think?

Boos art and more 007

Was thinking (the dreaded after~thought) I should have done an orange or purple wash but the vinegar stain looks nice.  Now I need to decide if I want to do a wire hanger or jute… maybe some little stars or bells?  Oh well it will come to me and I’ll share pictures of the final piece soon!

I also started working on the new spirit  board design!  This one is stealing my heart, the vintage art I choose is more of the wonderful C.R Gibson vintage Halloween art.  I am staying with a very similar look of the witches but this time they are all ready for Halloween dressed up as ghosts!  Two of my favorite things witches and ghosts!  Here’s a sneak peek at the planchette art work, I’ll share the board soon!

Isn’t she BOO~tiful!  I am thrilled with the design for this one!

What else do I have planned?  Well I have a few older autumn signs to add embellishments to. Setting the the stones for my BOS, I will be adding these to the Etsy Shop soon and yes they can be custom!  I am hard at work on the Earth Warriors Festival Coat of Arms and some cool pirate signs… oh and of course some vintage inspired Halloween things!

Remember that beautiful drift wood I found a few weeks ago, one piece will be turned into a new wind-chime for my porch, Jake will be crafting this for me!

And did I mention… My crafty daughter has just started her own blog, My Art’s Beat!  She is a budding artist and I am one proud mama to see her venturing out in the blog~o~sphere to share her work and grow as an artist.  I hope you’ll go show her some love! ♥

What about Bugg (my middle child?) Well we went to Newark’s old jail to watch Ghost Adventures episode on the jail last Saturday night, so he is busy creating his own mini documentary about this haunted location not far from home.  Should be interesting!

Well WoodSprites time ticks on and I must grab my broom and fly lots and lots to create!

Until next time…

The Game is a Foot!

Hello wonderful WoodSprites!

Thought I would post the 2 trivia questions posted so far on the Facebook Page.  So if you’d like to win a beautiful handcrafted Mother’s Day Gift hop on over and join the game!

Mom Giveaway 2014

Trivia question #1 : What Movie Mom said, “Oh, Slothy. I may have been bad. I may have kept you chained up in that room but it was for your own good.”

Trivia Question #2: What American humorist said, “”Cleaning the house while the children are home is like shoveling while it’s still snowing.”

Hope to see you join in the fun!

Oh Monday, Monday…

Merry Monday WoodSprites!

Just a quick post today, have lots to do.  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

Last week was very emotional for us.  We gathered with family (which was long overdue) to honor Robert’s sister Becky.  It was bittersweet to come together with family to say goodbye to someone we all love so dearly.  It made me realize we need to cherish all those we love everyday, we never know who much time we have with them.

Our wee clan made it home Friday evening and we spent a lovely night gathered around our kitchen table sharing stories of life and all the things we love.  Evie had some wish paper and her daddy and her wrote messages to Becky and sent them to the heavens… It was a beautiful moment shared between the two of them.

Saturday night Robert an I went to our first local event, the Earth Warriors Spring Bash.  We were able to just let the daily grind of life go away for a few hours.  We met a few wonderful folks and got to listen to a great band Roger Drawdy and the Firestarters.  We had a great night and it was very much needed.

Robert and I were able to put together a few items for the event’ silent auction to help raise money for the Earth Warriors Festival coming up in September.  Here’s a peek at what we donated.

We had a more masculine bottle made for the Pan basket but for some reason I must have not snapped a picture.  Each basket also had a rustic little wooden star candle holder and candle.  I wish I would have had more time to put into the baskets but there is always next year 😉

This week I am working on a few new wood-crafts!   I am hoping to have them done by Wednesday and of course I will share pictures here!  I will also be adding more items at An October Monday Zazzle Shop!  I have a Viking tee shirt design I created for my oldest son!  So if you’re looking for some unique tee’s for the summer festivals head on over and check our shop!  And as always you can find all our wood-crafts at An October Monday Etsy Shop!

Well time to fly, have much to do on the magical Monday, may magic fill your day too!

Until next time,

Hold on to Your Happy, Laugh till it hurts and Live in Love,

J.
