Merry Thor’s Day!

Hello WoodSprites!

It has been a busy, busy past week or so, in a good way!  I want to say thanks to all of you who visit An October Monday and help to support it’s growth it makes my heart happy!

So time for a shop item updates… We have two new items up in the Etsy Shop (well one is a set but…)

So here are this weeks new whimsical woodcrafts:

Laundry Today or Skyclad Tomorrow

3 Sisters

This week I am busy working on two beautiful new altars, Green Lady and Green Man.  These will be done on stunning and sturdy oak and I super excited about these two lovelies!  One thing that is awesome about An October Monday portable altars is they are really portable.  Yes, they are small and convenient to just pick up and move from place to place but our altars were created with those who want to venture out into the outdoors or who have to travel a lot and want one that can easily and quickly be packed up to go.  With that in mind we made it fast and simple to remove the legs, kept the size small  enough (but not too small) to slip into a backpack or suitcase so you can take your personal altar wherever your path takes you!  We have two style available on the shop:

Art Nouveau Altar

ArtNouveauAltar

Tree of Life

Treeof LifeAltar

We are really excited to be adding two more styles to the shop!  I will share once they are available so keep an eye out for them!

Last weekend my darling husband and I ventured out to the Robin Hood Springtime Festival in New Haven CT… I loved it!  I have never been to a Renaissance Fair (don’t judge) I had such a great time!  This got me to thinking, maybe it’s time for An October Monday to start working toward doing some festivals… And maybe even adding some Renaissance/Fantasy items in the shop?  Dragons, Fairies, and  Knights… OH MY!  So what do you think?

Also, I want to announce that An October Monday will be the featured artist at I {heart} Rhody on August 12, 2015!  I am super excited and honored to be showcased on this wonderful blog full of all kinds of great information on things in Rhode Island.  So a huge Thanks to the wonderful ladies who run I {heart} Rhody!

Well Sprites it’s time to fly have order to finish and two new altars to start on!

Until next time…

Hold on to Your Happy, Laugh till it hurts and Live in Love,
J.

It’s been awhile…

So it has been awhile since I last blogged.  We have safely moved, we are now unpacked and An October Monday Etsy Shop is now re-opened.  Working on some new items for the shop, but shhhh… More about that at a later time 😉

Today I would love to share my first new poem…  It’s been the first time in a long time I had words just flow through me this easily.  Maybe it’s the ocean air or the whispers of wind through the woods outside my house.  Whatever the reason I am very grateful and I hope you enjoy Anew…

Anew

By: Julie A. Eastin

Wind whispers, secrets of days gone by

The salt air cleanses the soul

A new breath is released

It dances on the ocean breeze

Sunlight purifies the body

Each cell burst with delight

A new cycle has begun

An unfamiliar path to walk

Dreams begin to form

Erupting into being

A new desire burns

Songs of the soul to be heard

Moonrise, a light of guidance

Pearl of wisdom for those who seek

A new woman is reborn

Arms raised, she draws down the moon

Radiant stars shine ancient beauty

They are the ancestral women

A new sister joins them

Baptized in their glow

This moment marked in time

Shrouded in divine mystery

A new love fills her

Transformed forever… She is anew

Changes A Foot & A Little Practical Magic

Yes, I fell off the face of the earth again… But with good reason.  So many things are changing, again, that it has left me with little time to blog.  If you follow us you may know that Robert was let go from his job at an unnamed bottle water company (evil bastards!).  It was tough…

I MEAN REALLY TOUGH!

This was in October.  November came and still no work.  December came… still no work.  We managed to have a wonderful Yule due to the kindness and love of four very special women in our life and to those who placed orders from An October Monday Etsy!  Thank you all and much, much love!

Then suddenly the New Year came and POW!  Robert got a job offer in Rhode Island!  So he has been away from the wee clan for 4 weeks now working… Yay!

That means… You guessed it, my wee clan will be once again moving!  Good Goddess I hope this is the last move for a very long time.  The kids and I don’t have a move date as of yet… We may tough it out till the end of the school year, but with us who knows.

So in absence of my life partner I have been working on orders solo and crafting new things for the shop.  I had to put altars on hold for now, Robert does all the handy work in building them but don’t fret they will be back in stock by summer 😉

I created two new pieces inspired by the movie Practical Magic (one of my favorite movies).  Let’s take a peek, shall we…

Now I am busy finishing up a new Apothecary Sign and a Green Man Herbal Shoppe sign.  I am hoping to have them up at the Etsy shop by the middle of next week!  And as always I am dreaming up new things to craft!

You may have noticed that the blog, the Facebook page and our Twitter have brand new banners, a new look for a new year and new beginnings!

Well, you wonderful WoodSprites, my day is ticking away and I have plenty to do… But I wanted to pop on and again Thank All of those who have placed orders during a really difficult time.  It was with those orders we were able to tread water and not go down with a sinking ship.  We, like so many others, live mostly paycheck to paycheck but we try our hardest, give our all, and as if by magick we always make it through ♥

Until next time…

Hold on to Your Happy, Laugh till it hurts and Live in Love,
J.

It’s Friday!

Happy Friday WoodSprites and Witches!

I hope you all had a wickedly wonderful Halloween! We kept it low key this year, stayed in with my clan and handed out candy to the little beggars.  Went to a beautiful Samhain ceremony hosted by Ms. Heather Killen of Violet Flame Gifts.  Tonight my wee clan will be honoring our beloved dead and remembering those loved one who passed this year and the years before.  This week our family lost a dear woman, Robert’s bio~Mom, so we will be saying our good~byes to her tonight.

Today I will be shipping out an order to Oregon and we will be working on some new awesome travel size altars!  I have some other new projects in the works, such as; Wheel of the Year, Brigid’s Cross and some Yule pieces!  We will post pictures as they come along.

But this post is not so much to plug the shop, but rather to just ramble on a bit…

The time of reflecting has begun, time to review our harvest for the year and to clean out that what does us no good.  To borrow from Game of Thrones, Winter is Coming…

This past year has been full of many good times and some very hard times.  I have made wonderful new friends, attended Earth Warriors and have grown my little business a wee bit more.  But with the sweet comes the sour (yes I borrowed that too)  This past year we lost my sister~in~law and now my mother~in~law, Robert lost his job and we may be moving, yet again…

I have ranged from wicked witch to warrior woman mode a lot this year…  I long to be the gentle healer/teacher but it seems that those days are reserved only for my kiddos, maybe as it should be.  I never thought myself to be on a warriors path but maybe I have underestimated my role in this world?  I know one thing is for sure my shadow work (work of the soul) will be very powerful and intense this winter.

One thing I am always reminded of; We are always growing, changing and learning.  I suppose if the day comes when I can no longer marvel at life and all it’s beautiful complications, I should worry… In fact for the first time I am not afraid of the unknown that lies ahead, I am ready to face it with the heart of a warrior, my sword in hand…  My heart filled with the love of my wee clan.  This is the lesson I have learned this year, there is nothing more important than those you love.

With that said, I shall conclude my ramblings and be thankful we have made it through one more week!

Blessed Be, may you be with the ones you love this weekend ♥

Until next time…
